Spoiler Filled

At the beginning, Mr. Terrific tells Java he needs to see his boss Mr. Stagg. Simon Stagg stole TerrifcTech out from under Holt while he was dealing the events of Metal. One of his T-Spheres alerted him to a project that Stagg was messing with. Stagg is trying to open a door to the Dark Multiverse, despite the events of Metal. He succeeded, but couldn’t close it. He sees Metamorpho and brings in Plastic Man, still dormant in his egg form. Mr. Terrific is told that Rex turned into a metal, that he notes is Nth Metal and then Metamorpho gets loose. Rex, Holt, and Plastic Egg all get sucked into a vortex, causing Plastic Man to wake up.

Plastic Man shields them as they fall through the vortex. Rex explains that he didn’t mean to do any of that. He says that he foolishly agreed to check out the portal for Stagg and Michael tells him it was the dark energy that changed him. Holt explains to Plastic Man what has happened while he has been dormant. One of Mr. Terrific’s T-spheres goes off detecting another life signal and they go to investigate after figuring out how to survive. They figure out that they need to move about a mile across this planetoid to find the life signal that set off the T-sphere. Rex notes that he doesn’t think it’s a planetoid and when Plastic Man stretches to verify where they are, he discovers that it is a large seemingly dead creature.

They are attacked by crab like creatures, but are saved by the life form that they have been tracking. She isn’t sure how long she’s been there due to time distortion in the area. Rex questions if she’s a ghost, but she’s just in her intangible form, which is normal for people on her planet. She reveals that she hasn’t been able to change back since she got to this place. Her name is Linnya Wazzo from BGZTL. She says that she hasn’t sent any distress signal, which prompts them to keep looking. Mr. Terrific activates a console that they find with a message from Tom Strong!

Reflections, Impressions, and Predictions

  • Metal sets this story up, despite not being finished, which is a little frustrating.

  • Nth metal coming back into play as well as the Dark Multiverse can change things depending on how Metal finishes.

  • This has a very Fantastic Four vibe. You can easily make several comparisons: Brilliant scientist, disfigured brute, someone who becomes invisible, immature jokester.

  • This book sets up a few questions overall, but is very fun to read

  • Holy cow! Tom Strong making an appearance and factoring into this series just made this a must buy for me.
