Batman’s Supply of Sidekicks
While visiting Gotham, the Twisted Cape dropped by the police department to see the world-famous Bat Signal. As it was the middle of the day, we could not get them to turn it on and view it in its full glory. However, while discussing the signal with the officer, he brought up the subject of the Bat’s sidekicks.
While we all know about his most famous sidekick Robin, we also know that several boys have held the mantle of Robin. This brought up an interesting question – where do they come from? There’s no way any responsible parent would allow their child to go out in one of the world’s most dangerous cities and fight crime. Where is the Dark Knight getting his sidekicks?
One theory is that they are his children. So, according to this theory, he would be that irresponsible parent not only allowing his children to fight the city’s most dangerous people, but encouraging it.
Another theory is that he clones them. A never-ending source of sidekicks built to his specifications. He clearly is a man of means, so this is not out of the realm of possibility.
A different theory, and most popular among the police community, is that he abducts, trains, and arms children.
This seems plausible to them because people go missing all of the time in Gotham. There have been 4 or 5 kids that have been officially Robin, and they constantly seem to get younger, which lends itself to this theory. While this theory would make Batman a criminal, they need further proof to bring charges.
